Manufacturer description #1

Nikon designed and built the Nikkormat FS for those seeking a fine, versatile and rugged single-lens reflex at a moderate price. Embodying a full complement of modern premium camera features, the Nikkormat FS clearly proclaims the Nikon tradition of precise craftsmanship and the promise of outstanding performance.

As further confirmation of its Nikon kinship, the Nikkormat FS is designed for use with all but two of the interchangeable Nikkor lenses and most of the Nikon F accessories.

Nikon F owners who wish to supplement their equipment with an extra camera body will find the Nikkormat FS an excellent and economical choice.

FEATURES OF THE NIKKORMAT FS

Brilliant Prism Finder System shows subject image with even edge-to-edge brightness on fresnel- type screen. Micro prism focusing system and matte ground glass ring facilitate pin-point focusing in any light.

Automatic Return Mirror prevents image blackout, keeps subject image visible in finder before and after exposure.

Automatic Reopen Diaphragm of Auto-Nikkor lenses prevents finder dimout. Lens remains at full aperture until shutter is released - then stops down to pre-selected aperture and instantly, automatically reopens.

Depth-of-Field Preview permits observation of depth-of-field at 'taking' aperture, as well as selection of aperture on basis of depth-of-field.

Extra-quiet Focal Plane Shutter Newly developed, all-metal, 6-bladed shutter is remarkably noise- free. Provides speeds from 1 second to 1/1000th and B.

Full Flash Synchronization for standard M-type bulbs up to 1/1000th second, for electronic flash to 1/125th. Color coded PC flash terminals for M and X.

Plus single-stroke transport lever, rapid rewind crank, auto-reset exposure counter, variable self-timer and secure, hinged back.

Nikkormat FS accepts all Nikon F lenses except Fisheye Nikkor and 21mm f4 Nikkor. All close-up, macro and micro accessories for Nikon F also fit the Nikkormat FS.

FILMS TO BE USED: Standard 35 mm film in daylight cartridges available in 36 and 20 exposure loads. Each frame measures 24 x 36mm.

VIEWFINDER: Eye-level type using roof prism. Eyepiece accepts accessory angle-finder as well as eye-correction lenses.
