From the editor

A special demonstration M7 cameras produced in 2002 for Leica agencies in different countries. These cameras carried on the top plate a color reproduction of the flag of the country in which the agency was located, together, in most cases, with the text, for example "Test Camera France". For the Scandinavian countries there is only one design: the flags of all four countries, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark are superimposed on each other. In the case of Switzerland there is an outline map of the country instead of a flag and the text "Test the Best". For the Belgium agency the text on 25 of the cameras is "Photo Alpha". On the Canadian cameras the flag is replaced by the outline of a maple leaf in red and enclosing the number "50".

The following numbers of cameras were issued to each agency:

  • Australia: 6
  • Austria: 30
  • Belgium: 35
  • Brazil: 2
  • Canada: 50
  • France: 50
  • Germany: 60
  • Great Britain: 30
  • Greece: 4
  • Italy: 50
  • Korea: 30
  • Luxemburg: 8
  • Netherlands: 35
  • New Zealand: 4
  • Portugal: 10
  • Scandinavia: 25
  • Spain: 10
  • Switzerland: 40
  • USA: 100
