Manufacturer description #1

LEICA M6 TTL in black paint finish. How does one begin a new millennium? Certainly by looking back and re- viewing the past. But also by looking ahead and by welcoming the new era with a lot of positive resolutions. These considerations apply to our company as well, and the turn of the millennium presents us with a great reason for celebration: It was 75 years ago, in the year 1925, that we publicly introduced the first LEItz CAmera — the LEICA — at the Leipzig Spring Fair. A compelling reason for creating something very special for friends and col- lectors of the Leica brand: a special limited series of 2,000 LEICA M6 TTL cameras in classic black paint finish.

When you hold this camera in your hands for the first time, when you experience the perfect and precise design of all mechanical and optical components, you can sense why we have proudly chosen the LEICA M6 TTL in black paint finish to welcome the new era. It is a camera that superbly embodies the exquisite qualities that have char- acterized the Leica name from its very beginnings: continuous development and improvement of its products without departing from its fundamental principles. A camera that could not be any better for the momentous step into the new millennium, it represents perfect continuity of what was, what is and what will be.

This camera makes our intentions evident at the very first glance: its deep black paint finish conjures a reminiscence of earlier Leica cameras, and with frequent use over the years it will not only gain a lovely patina, but a special charisma as well. Individual elements, like the rapid film advance lever and the rewinding knob, are derived from the classic LEICA M3, while the technology inside the LEICA M6 TTL in black paint finish is, of course, based on the state-of-the-art standard of current M6 series production. An additional engraving on the accessory shoe, starting with the number 0001/2000, documents the limited quantity in this special edition, making each and every LEICA M6 TTL in black paint finish a genuinely unique treasure. A meticulously worked line engraving of the traditional Leica logo on the top of the camera will identify it as a genuine Leica forever after.

Other details that make this camera so unique are less obvious, but a closer look will bring all the more pleasure to the connoisseur. The chrome-plated release button well, the shutter release button and the latch on the base plate, both finished in matte silver chrome, are appealing creative counterpoints to the black painted exterior surfaces. The serial number is additional evidence of the special status of this limited edition: following a long tradition of the Leica Camera Company, every camera bears a serial number in a continuous sequence that began in 1925 — a testimony to individuality and dedication throughout the entire manufacturing process. The serial numbers on LEICA M6 TTL cameras in black paint finish start at 2,500,000, thus setting a new milestone in the rich tradition of Leica camera history.

Certificate of Authenticity for the LEICA M6 TTL 0.72 black paint finish:

In 1925 the very first LEICA was presented to the public at the Spring Convention in Leipzig. Early in the year 2000 the 2,500,000th copy of the camera originally designed by Oskar Barnack will be produced. This anniversary will be celebrated by the Leica Camera AG with a special limited series of 2000 cameras. In addition to the serial number, the LEICA M6 TTL black paint finish will have an extra series number engraved from 0001 to 2000. This confirms its authenticity.
