From the editor

A special limited LEICA M6 0.72 camera commissioned by the Swiss Leica dealer, Foto Ganz, Zurich.

These cameras differ from the mass production model in the following ways:

  • The Leitz roundel, normally red, is gold;
  • On the top plate is engraved the cross-section diagram of the 50mm ELMAR (4 elements in 3 groups);
  • On removing the baseplate, a lot number followed by "M6 G" (or vice versa) can be seen engraved in the middle of the film-loading chart.

It is believed that 100 units were produced in 1990/1991(*) in both silver chrome and black chrome finish.

(*) Some sources indicate the year 1987, however serial numbers of the bodies belong to batches reserved for 1990 and 1991.
