Manufacturer description #2
Medium telephoto lens with a viewing sensation that closely resembles the naked eye. This lens includes a host of powerful technologies, including high-refraction glass and ghostless coating for nicely-varied delineation performance up to a minimum shooting distance of 0.7m and expressive capability with abundant gradations capable of capturing even subtle shadows. The F1.8 brightness and 9-blade aperture enables a natural out-of-focus (bokeh) effect that instills depth to the image. The Shippo-yaki finger points stand out in this compact machined aluminum body.
The design was based on the numerical evaluation by various testing instruments and also incorporates advanced evaluation using actual images. The result is an appropriate softness at aperture opening, and as the aperture closes, enables sharp imaging performance and rendering that provides a sense of space, gradations, and three-dimensional feel.
This lens uses the FREE system that moves only the front group while keeping the rear group stationary in the lens system when focusing. This enables stable imaging performance from near to far distances.
The lens body uses an aluminum material for providing a design with a sense of elegance and precision. The camera body uses "finger points" made of a green Shippo-yaki material* for providing a firmer gripping sensation.
*Shippo-yaki is one by one handmaid material, therefore the tone of a color differs individually.
