Manufacturer description

This new 8mm f/3.0 Super-wide Fisheye Lens is an excellent addition to any photographer's collection, giving users the ability to expand their creativity and capture incredible scenes from a truly unique perspective. In the hands of an artist this lens can produce memorable, eye-catching images.

This lens, when used with cameras with an APS-C image sensor, creates images with an expanded perspective, including images with a creatively deformed outlook and a sharp pan focus that extends throughout the entire frame.

It is a manual digitally optimized fisheye prime lens that offers an impressive 180° field of view for stunningly vast images with all new Canon DSLR cameras. The minimum shooting distance (just 12 inches) and large depth of field also provide amazing close-up shots.

Its advanced aspherical, multi-coated optical glass reduces flare and minimizes outer-edge distortion for optimal image quality. Superior outer edge image quality with low distortion and chromatic aberration. The new version of the 8mm features HD optics and a removable bayonet lens hood to allow use on full frame DSLR's.

Typical characteristics of fisheye lenses

  • Extreme angle of view (at least 180° diagonally);
  • Circular types (the image circle of the lens is inscribed in the image frame) or diagonal types (cover the entire image frame);
  • Usually of equidistant projection type, with the distance from the picture center to any given point always proportional to the angle from the optical axis to that point;
  • Huge barrel distortion;
  • Short closest focusing distance (0.20 - 0.30m with 35mm full-frame prime lenses);
  • Very large depth of field, eliminating the need for autofocus or precise manual focusing;
  • Due to the extreme angle of view and convex front element, front filters cannot be used;
  • Often equipped with a filter turret with swivel-mounted filters;
  • Often come with a small, built-in petal-shaped lens hood (*).

(*) Some APS-C models have a detachable lens hood, which allows such lenses to be used on 35mm full-frame cameras as circular fisheyes.

From the editor

An improved version of the Kelda 8/3.5 Fisheye CS, which received a faster speed of F/3, while the closest focusing distance was reduced from 0.3m to 0.1m.

Diameter and length are indicated for the lens with the lens hood mounted.
