A classic standard lens for 35mm full-frame SLR cameras. Optically, it is a modified double Gauss design. Mechanically, it is very portable and convenient for casual or travel photography, if you don't mind focusing manually.

The lens covers a wide range of subjects from landscapes and architecture to portraits. The latter genre is facilitated by the ultra-fast speed of F/1.4, which makes possible a shallow depth of field and a smooth, eye-pleasing background blur. Night photography enthusiasts will also appreciate the maximum speed of this lens, as it does not require raising the ISO too high. When stopping down, 14 aperture blades will keep the out-of-focus highlight's a more rounded shape.

The lens accepts 55mm filters, and as for the lens hood, it is not included. It is definitely a bayonet type, and most likely round, not petal-shaped.
