From the Classic Camera magazine (No. 26, May 2003)

In June 1959, when the Nikon F was already absorbing much of the time and interest of the Nippon Kogaku optics department, three new lenses for the Nikon rangefinder were released. The longest of these was designed for use with a reflex housing and had just three elements with a focal length of 350mm and maximum opening of f/4.5. The 350mm f/4.5 Nikkor T stopped down to f/32, had an all-black finish and utilized 82mm screw filters like the 180mm f/2.5 Nikkor H. Like the latter, it also weighed 1700 grams, but it focused from twice the distance, about four meters.

From the editor

The only Nikon S lens to have a semi-automatic diaphragm.

The lens hood is of 82mm screw-in type and doubles as the Series IX filter holder.
