Manufacturer description #1
From the LEICAVIEW magazine (Spring 1993, Volume 4 / Number 1):
The new 28mm f/2.8 is a sharper, more compact version of the conventional 28mm f/2.8 lens. Its modified retrofocus design produces excellent contrast and detail reproduction through the entire image area. Even at full aperture it is remarkably sharp and brilliant, and its excellent image quality is maintained in the near focusing (under 2 meters) range as well. The large diameter of the dispersing lenses, front and rear, helps to minimize vignetting.
Manufacturer description #2
Because of its impressive rendering of fine details and contrasts, this lens is the preferred choice for photographs in tight quarters and for landscape and architectural photography. In order to make the frame visible, a bright-line frame is displayed in the viewfinder of the M7 0.58 or 0.72. With the M7 0.85, an accessory brilliant viewfinder is required.
Manufacturer description #3
This is a classic standard wide-angle lens: It delivers very good imaging performance at full aperture. Its barrel distortion is very small and unobtrusive. In cases where light sources are included in the picture area, unwanted reflections and flare are very rare. Therefore this lens is the right one for situations that do not require an extremely wide angle of view, but where regular 35 mm lenses do not provide sufficient wide-angle characteristics. This lens is particularly popular among professional photographers.
