Manufacturer description #1
A popular version of the FD 300mm f/4L, this lens, too, benefits from the Rear-group internal focusing system and a Vari-pitch cam for smooth, precise focusing even on distant subjects and a well-balanced, compact design. Special attention has been paid to reduction of secondary chromatic aberration.
Manufacturer description #2
Despite its large maximum aperture of f/4, this 300mm telephoto lens is well-balanced and lightweight.
Select glasses of low and high refractive indices, used in the rear group's convex fifth and concave sixth elements respectively, equalize to correct field curvature.
The elimination of spherical aberration that arises in the rear group is solved by balancing the curvature of each lens.
This lens adopts Rear-group focusing and Vari-pitch cam focusing systems enabling precise and smooth focusing.
The closest shooting distance of 3 meters is the shortest among the 300mm focal length lenses.
Manufacturer description #3
This new FD Lens provides outstanding versatility in any light with its fast f4 maximum aperture coupled with excellent balance and light weight for convenient hand-held shooting. In order to keep size to a minimum for its aperture, the Rear Group Focusing System is employed. Spherical and chromatic aberrations have been corrected to near-perfect levels, thanks to a new optical design. Besides the Rear Group Focusing System (which keeps lens length constant through the focusing range) this lens employs a vari-pitch cam-type focusing mechanism for exceptionally light and fast focusing. Small focusing ring diameter, close focusing and other combined features make this lens one of the most versatile and valuable examples of its focal length. A detachable tripod mount is provided as is a filter holder for economical 34mm drop-in filters.
