From the editor
A beautiful Chinese clone of the Leitz Canada Summilux 35/1.4 "Steel Rim". The lens barrel is made of aluminum alloy, making the lens lightweight at 200g. Being also very compact - 33mm without a lens hood - the lens fully fits into the ideology of the LEICA M system and is perfect for street photography. However, this is not the only application of the Similar, because its ultra fast speed of F/1.4 allows you to shoot in low light conditions, as well as smoothly blur the background and get a narrow depth of field when shooting close-up. Optically, Similar consists of 7 elements in 5 groups and is almost identical to its classic prototype.
The question of what to buy - a used, but still expensive Leitz Canada Summilux 35/1.4 "Steel Rim" from the 1960s or a brand new Artra Lab Similar 35/1.4, which is almost a complete copy of the German lens, but does not have the same history and reputation - everyone must answer for themselves.
