Manufacturer description
In an era dominated by digital convenience, smartphones and advanced camera technologies have transformed photography with automation and smart features. Yet, the timeless allure of traditional photography - like the nostalgic charm of film and the tactile experience of manual focusing - continues to captivate a growing audience of young photography enthusiasts. Recognizing this renewed passion, innovative brands have embraced the trend by reintroducing classic designs, offering a perfect blend of tradition and modernity.
Founded by a dedicated group of Leica collectors and photography enthusiasts, Artizlab embodies a deep respect for traditional photographic craftsmanship. Leica’s legacy, built over a century, remains an icon in the world of photography, known for its unmatched classics. However, the exclusivity of Leica’s premium offerings has left many admirers longing for accessibility. Artizlab bridges this gap by drawing inspiration from Leica’s timeless designs while making them available to a broader audience. The team’s expertise, gained from decades of experience with Leica cameras and lenses, ensures their creations honor the past while meeting the needs of today’s photographers.
Inspired by Leica’s legendary 1960s 35mm f/1.4 V2 lens, the Aritzlab Classic 35mm f/1.4 for M Lens is a tribute to timeless design and optical excellence. This lens retains the compact and elegant aesthetic of its predecessor, exuding sophistication and fine craftsmanship. Every detail is thoughtfully designed to evoke a sense of classic elegance, while the integration of modern optical technologies enhances its performance for contemporary photographers.
Key features of the Classic 35mm f/1.4 for M Lens include:
- Reduced Lens Flare: Improved optical coatings minimize flare for better clarity.
- Enhanced Resolution: Optimized central resolution ensures sharper, more detailed images.
- Leica-Style Rendering: Preserves the signature film-like quality with richer colors and refined textures.
- Dreamy Background Bokeh: The improved central sharpness, combined with the f/1.4 aperture, delivers beautifully soft and artistic background blur.
This lens delivers a unique balance of vintage character and modern performance, making it a versatile tool for photographers who value both artistic expression and technical precision.
Since 2020, Funleader has earned recognition for its innovative photography solutions, such as the 18mm f/8.0 Pancake Lens and the Contax G Series to M Mount Conversion Kit. This collaboration with Artizlab is driven by a shared vision: to celebrate the art of traditional photography and make its timeless charm accessible to more enthusiasts.
The Classic 35mm f/1.4 for M Lens represents the perfect fusion of tradition and innovation, designed for those who appreciate craftsmanship, creativity, and a distinct photographic style. Explore the artistry and precision of the Classic 35mm f/1.4 for M Lens, and rediscover the joy of traditional photography with modern enhancements.
From the editor
A Chinese clone of the Leitz Summilux 35/1.4 II. The lens barrel is made of aluminum and copper, making the lens lightweight at only 157g. Being also very compact - 28mm without a lens hood - the lens fully fits into the ideology of the LEICA M system and is perfect for street photography. However, this is not the only application of the Artizlab, because its ultra fast speed of F/1.4 allows you to shoot in low light conditions, as well as smoothly blur the background and get a narrow depth of field when shooting close-up. Optically, the Artizlab differs from its classic prototype, but is also a variation of the nearly symmetrical double Gauss lens.
The question of what to buy - a used, but still expensive Leitz Summilux 35/1.4 from the 1960s or a brand new Artizlab Classic 35/1.4, which is almost a complete copy of the German lens, but does not have the same history and reputation - everyone must answer for themselves.
