Abbreviations
MC | Multi-layer anti-reflection coating is applied to the surfaces of lens elements. This anti-reflection coating increases light transmission, eliminates flare and ghosting, and maintains color consistence among all lens models. |

FROM THE FORUM THREAD AT MFLENSES.COM:
"The Mitakon MC 85mm F/2 is the first 85mm lens made in China. The lens is made of metal with rubber focusing ring.
The lens is soft wide open. It's not just spherical aberration, it's lack of resolution. Corners are softer still. Sharpens a bit stopped down, but only reaches "excellent" levels by F/5.6. Contrast is moderate wide open, high stopped down, no doubt due to good coatings. Very little purple fringing wide open; none stopped down. There seems to be high field curvature, making it hard or impossible to get sharp pictures of brick walls (portraits should be nice though). Overall, subject isolation should work well with this lens, giving apparent depth of field similar to some 85/1.4 designs. Bokeh is very smooth; not as smooth as the Samyang 85/1.4, but still good. Compared to Sonnar-based Jupiter-9, the character of this lens is prominently different; it's obviously Planar in rendering. It seems the designers deliberately allowed for some undercorrected spherical aberration to favor out of focus rendition. (I know that lenses overcorrected for spherical aberration, like Super/SMC Takumar 135/3.5, tend to have harsher bokeh with green accents.). Coatings are nice; they cope well with the sun in the frame.
The diaphragm has 6 blades forming a "ninja star" at F/2.8 and a hexagon at F/4 and smaller. Aperture detents are full stops throughout the range.
For the Canon EF version, it comes with an AF confirm chip (EXIF: 85mm F/2 fixed). No accessory or manual is included."
FROM THE FORUM THREAD AT MFLENSES.COM:
"I ordered the Pentax K-mount version. This is an A-lens, meaning that it can be used in Av mode and aperture can be selected from the camera when setting the aperture ring to A. The aperture range is f/2-f/22 with f/22 being marked as A. The aperture ring is wider than usual. There are 6 aperture blades. Filter ring is 52mm.
The lens is made of metal with just the focusing ring being partly covered in what is either plastic or hard rubber. Focusing is smooth and MFD is 0.85m. Markings are engraved. There is no style to speak of - the body exudes all the grace a cylinder is capable of exuding. This was manufactured for use, not for looks.
Assembly is tight - there is nothing wobbly. Overall, everything is functional and nothing looks in danger of falling apart with use.

The manufacturer is Shenyang Zhongyi Optical & Electronic Co., Ltd., established in 1984 as a joint venture company with a Japanese investor.
The lens was also sold under the name "SYZYGX MC 1/2.0 f=85mm" (beautiful name, isn't it?).
