From the editor
A large and heavy, ultra-fast professional standard lens for Canon EOS series / Nikon D series 35mm full-frame digital SLR cameras. Yongnuo's own development, not optically based on Canon/Nikon 50mm F/1.4 models. It has a moderately complex optical formula, which includes 4 ultra-high refractive index elements. Despite the fact that the lens belongs to the class of professional optics, it still does not have weather sealing.
Both the Canon and Nikon versions are equipped with a built-in micromotor. During focusing, the front element extends beyond the lens barrel by approximately 15mm. During autofocus, the manual focusing ring does not rotate.
The front of the lens has a bayonet mount for a lens hood (code unknown), but the lens was supplied without a dedicated lens hood.
There is a micro USB 2.0 Type B port at the rear of the lens, which can be used to update the lens firmware.
The Nikon F-mount version was announced in August 2018.
Notes
- Most lenses designed for the Nikon F mount are equipped with a mechanical diaphragm control system. However, the Nikon F-mount version of this lens features electromagnetic diaphragm (EMD) control system. It provides highly accurate diaphragm control and stable auto exposure performance during continuous shooting.
- EMD lenses are not compatible with Nikon D2- or D1-series, D200, D100, D90, D80, D70, D70s, D60, D50, D40, D40X, D3000 digital SLR cameras and Nikon film SLR cameras.
