Manufacturer description
Madoka 180 Fisheye Lens from Yasuhara, a unique 7.3mm circular fisheye lens specifically crafted for Sony E-mount cameras. The name "Madoka" comes from an old Japanese word meaning "round" or "circle," perfectly capturing the essence of this lens. With a stunning 180º angle of view, offers true circular fisheye images.
Designed for APS-C sensor mirrorless cameras, the Madoka 180 is both compact and incredibly sharp, making it an exceptional choice for photographers looking to explore the creative possibilities of wide-angle shooting. This lens is particularly well-suited for VR photography, providing an immersive, spherical perspective that few lenses can match.
Despite its manual focus design, the Madoka 180 simplifies your shooting experience. With a focus distance of just 0.1 meters (1.64 feet) to infinity, you’ll find that precise focusing is rarely needed. This makes it an ideal companion for photographers who want to maintain the portability and ease of use associated with mirrorless cameras.
The Madoka 180 Fisheye Lens is compatible with a range of Sony APS-C cameras.
It can also be used with Sony full-frame cameras like the Alpha a7 and Alpha a9 series in APS-C mode.
Compact, sharp, and innovative, the Madoka 180 Fisheye Lens opens up new creative horizons for your photography.
Typical characteristics of fisheye lenses
- Extreme angle of view (at least 180° diagonally);
- Circular types (the image circle of the lens is inscribed in the image frame) or diagonal types (cover the entire image frame);
- Usually of equidistant projection type, with the distance from the picture center to any given point always proportional to the angle from the optical axis to that point;
- Huge barrel distortion;
- Short closest focusing distance (0.20 - 0.30m with 35mm full-frame prime lenses);
- Very large depth of field, eliminating the need for autofocus or precise manual focusing;
- Due to the extreme angle of view and convex front element, front filters cannot be used;
- Often equipped with a filter turret with swivel-mounted filters;
- Often come with a small, built-in petal-shaped lens hood (*).
(*) Some APS-C models have a detachable lens hood, which allows such lenses to be used on 35mm full-frame cameras as circular fisheyes.
From the editor
The focusing capabilities of the lens are purely symbolic: the focus throw from the closest focusing distance of 0.10m to infinity is about 30 degrees, while the transition from the maximum mark of 0.50m to infinity occurs almost immediately. However, a focusing ring is not necessary for a fisheye at all, and the manufacturer could have simplified and made this lens cheaper by making its focus fixed.
