Abbreviations
MC | Multi-layer anti-reflection coating is applied to the surfaces of lens elements. This anti-reflection coating increases light transmission, eliminates flare and ghosting, and maintains color consistence among all lens models. |

From the "СОВЕТСКОЕ ФОТО" (No. 1, 1983)
The production association "Arsenal Plant" has mastered the production of a new standard lens "Волна-3В" МС 2.8/80 for the medium format camera "Киев-88 TTL".
The lens is assembled according to an original optical formula consisting of 6 elements in 5 groups. All optical elements have a multi-layer anti-reflective coating that reduces internal reflections, which significantly increases the image contrast, improves color rendition on color photographs and allows for shooting with a bright light source in the frame.
According to the technical specifications, the resolving power of the lens on the "Фото-65" film is at least 45 lines/mm in the center of the field, and at least 25 lines/mm at the edge, which is a high figure for standard lenses of medium-format cameras.
The tests conducted on a specific lens (factory number 822174) confirmed its high optical characteristics and give grounds to assert that the "Волна-3В" МС 2.8/80 lens is at the level of the well-known "Opton" 2.8/80 lens of the Hasselblad camera in terms of resolution and contrast.
From the editor
The lens was introduced around 1979, intended as a standard lens for Kiev-88 [TTL] ("КИЕВ-88 [TTL]") and Kiev-60 TTL ("КИЕВ-60 TTL") cameras, and produced by the Arsenal Plant (USSR).
Unlike the vast majority of other Soviet lenses, the lens did not have a one-letter code ("Б" or "В") after the model index ("3"), which could indicate the lens mount ("Б" for the Pentacon Six bayonet mount or "В" for the Hasselblad M60x6 screw mount).
After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the lens was sold under the names "ARSAT B 1:2.8 80mm" (with the Hasselblad M60x6 screw mount) or "ARSAT C 1:2.8 80mm" (with the Pentacon Six bayonet mount).
