Manufacturer description
This lens was developed in 1940 by the Tokyo Optical Company as an improved type possessing the characteristics of Sonnar and Summar lenses. It has a click stop diaphragm.
LENS-DB: When the manufacturer states 1940, they are referring to the original version of this lens called the Simlar 50/1.5, which was a standard lens for the Leotax DIV.
From the editor
Standard lens for the Leotax F camera. The basic optical formula remained the same as its predecessor, the Simlar 50/1.5, but the shape and curvature of the optical elements at the rear were changed, as well as the size of one of these elements.
