Manufacturer description

High-speed telephoto lens designed to professional specifications with special LD (low dispersion) glass.

Lens construction is 10 elements in 7 groups. The stringent requirements of professional photographers have been met by the use of two elements of special LD (low-dispersion) glass, plus a new optical design. Aberrations, including chromatic, spherical, and curvature of field, have been thoroughly corrected. This is a super-high-performance high-speed telephoto lens which gives excellent image quality even at maximum aperture. Ideal for photographing fast-moving subjects such as sporting events and wildlife, as well as for press and stage photography.

New construction results in maximum handling convenience.

  • Internal focusing system: The internal focusing system means that the overall length of the lens does not vary with focusing changes, providing optimum ease of holding throughout the focusing range.
  • Variable-pitch design: Focusing is smooth and light. The variable-pitch focusing design means that the amount of focusing ring movement changes from infinity (small rotation), to near-focus (large rotation) making accurate focusing much easier.
  • Preset focus click mechanism: By fixing the preset screw at a selected position on the focusing ring distance scale, you can shift instantly to that chosen focusing setting.
  • Palm-holder: Mounting the palm-holder on the tripod mount results in improved shooting balance and stability. The palm-holder is supplied with the lens.
  • Tripod mount: The tripod mount has click stops at 90 degree intervals, and can be conveniently mounted in the vertical or horizontal position.
  • A large, one-touch bayonet-mount lens hood is supplied with the lens. The lens hood prevents unwanted light from striking the lens causing image degradation flare.

Tamron Adaptall-2 series

The third generation of Tamron lenses with interchangeable mount system for practically all major SLR cameras. Introduced in 1979.

  • All-black finish;
  • Compact, lightweight construction;
  • Fully automatic diaphragm;
  • Support for TTL open-aperture metering;
  • One mount fits all lenses, regardless of maximum aperture;
  • Accurate manual focusing with finely-ribbed focusing ring;
  • Focus closer than most others of compatable focal lengths;
  • Multi-layer anti-reflection coating.
