Manufacturer description #1
Offering exceptionally high image quality and a beautiful aluminum body with metallic silver finish, the SMCP-FA 31mm f/1.8 AL Limited Edition incorporates a glass-molded aspherical lens element into its 9-element, 7-group optics to provide sharp, crisp image reproduction, even at the maximum aperture of f/1.8, with a very soft rendition of out-of-focus areas. The floating mechanism effectively compensates for fluctuating aberrations, especially when photographing relatively close subjects. It offers a minimum focusing distance of just 12". Comes equipped with a specially-designed flower-shaped lens hood, which not only cuts down exces- sive light, but also allows for easy attachment and removal of filters. Filter size is 58mm.
Manufacturer description #2
Focal length of 31mm for opening up new possibilities in wide-angle expression. This lens uses glass-molded aspherical and high-reflection, low dispersion lenses together with a large aperture of F1.8 for sharp imaging performance with natural perspective and high contrast, and the floating lens system allows proper imaging performance at all shooting distances for providing exceptional image quality for every situation. A flower-shaped hood is also integrated in the design for easy operation of circular polarizing filters.
Features:
- A focal length of 31mm is used, which is almost exactly midway between the 35mm and 28mm standard wide lenses. This provides a unique angle of view that can draw out the best points of each focal length based on how the shot is framed.
- This lens provides sharp imaging, strong sense of perspective, large depth of field, and other exceptional characteristics for sharp, crystal-clear images in a general wide lens, and also incorporates abundant gradations, detailed reproduction of dark shades, and natural, soft out-of-focus (bokeh) effect called "imaging flavors". This lens enables sharp, smooth imaging even for continuous images when shooting from near to far distances.
- This lens uses a "floating lens system" where the space between a portion of the lens system is changed based on the shooting distance for correcting the various types of aberrations that occur at all shooting distances. This is effective in correcting the field curvature that tends to occur when shooting at close distances with a large aperture wide angle lens.
- Elegant and refined finish of machined aluminum unique to the "Limited series" products
- Deformed flower-shaped hood integrated with lens front frame that enables attachment of filters
- "Finger points" with Shippo-yaki finish* for heightening the sense of attachment to the camera body
*Shippo-yaki is one by one handmaid material, therefore the tone of a color differs individually.
