Manufacturer description
The Komura 105mm focal length has long been a favorite with portrait photographers, or others wishing a medium focal length lens. In portraiture it produces just the right perspective to give a pleasing believable effect, without any of the foreshortening that can take place when a shorter lens is used to make large heads. It permits close-up "candid" photography, at a sufficient distance to keep the subject unaware. The f/2.8 aperture is fine for most general work, including most lighting situations.
