Photographic reflex lenses "МС Рубинар-К 4,5/300 Макро" and "МС Рубинар 4,5/300 Макро" with multi-layer anti-reflection coating of optical surfaces are designed as interchangeable lenses for SLR cameras with a frame format of 24x36 mm. The "МС Рубинар-К 4,5/300 Макро" is intended for a camera with a bayonet connection of the "K" type. The "МС Рубинар 4,5/300 Макро" is intended for a camera with the M42x1 thread mount. These lenses are used to capture distant objects, inaccessible terrain, architectural elements and sports events. Indispensable lenses for photo hunting. Can be used both for black and white and color photography.
Typical characteristics of mirror (reflex) lenses
- Catadioptric system consisting of curved mirrors and optical glass;
- Much shorter, lighter and less expensive designs than conventional super telephoto lenses;
- Outstanding correction of chromatic aberrations;
- Since the aperture is fixed, neutral density filters are used to obtain a smaller aperture;
- Doughnut-shaped out-of-focus highlights.

One of four lenses of the Rubinar family of mirror-reflex lenses produced by the Lytkarino Optical Glass Plant (USSR). This model is the shortest, the fastest and the rarest among them. Two versions existed:
- МС РУБИНАР 4,5/300 МАКРО - with the M42 screw mount;
- МС РУБИНАР-К 4,5/300 МАКРО - with the Pentax K mount.
The lens was supplied with a screw-in round lens hood, as well as two 77mm screw-in filters: Н-4х (Neutral) and О-2,8х (Orange).
The maximum magnification is only 1:5, so "Macro" in the lens name is not justified. "Close focus" would be a better description, as the Rubinar focuses down to 1.7m, which is a pretty good result for a 300mm super telephoto lens.
NOTE: Because the lens has a large diameter, it may not fit on some APS-C digital SLR cameras due to the camera's built-in pop-up flash protruding forward.
