From the Classic Camera magazine (No. 26, May 2003)

The light-weight 105mm f/4 Nikkor T telephoto lens had just three elements and was somewhat of an anomaly among Nikon rangefinder lenses in that it was a direct competitor of the prestigious 105mm f/2.5 Nikkor P, with which it shared the focal length but weighing half as much. Its lens scheme was that of a long-focus, not a telephoto, lens and this caused it to protrude from the camera body more than a real 105mm telephoto lens that was faster and more compact. Built in imitation, perhaps, of the pre-war Elmar Mountain, the 105mm f/4 Nikkor T had black and silver chrome finish, stopped down to f/22 and used 34.5mm filters. The same lens with Nikon F mount was put into production in 1959.

From the editor

One of the last Nikkor lenses designed for 35mm rangefinder cameras. Most likely it was released as a budget slow alternative to the Nikkor 105/2.5. As a result, it has a simple Triplet type optical system.
