Manufacturer description #2

A popular choice for travel photography and candids, the 35mm f/2D AF Nikkor offers autofocus capability, plus 62° picture coverage, additional depth of field, and a wide maximum aperture. Compact size, light weight. Accepts 52mm filters; HN-3 lens hood.

From the editor

The AF Nikkor 35/2D is a classic AF-D lens design, and its construction is very robust for a lens of this type. It is very compact and weighs only 205g. Manual focus works smoothly with excellent resistance, although the manual focus feel is still not quite as sublime as that of AI-S Nikkors. The slight manual focus disadvantage is far outweighed by the autofocus and D-capability of the lens, which allows, of course, for faster operation with action photography, and full compatibility with all modern Nikon flash capabilities. This lens, with its 63 degree field of view, works as an excellent moderate wide angle prime on 35mm film or full-frame digital for landscape, travel or close-in people shots. Compared with mid-range zooms, the 35/2D provides better performance in this focal length, wider maximum aperture, smaller size, and less weight.

Notes

  • The autofocus will not be available with Nikon D40, D40X, D60, D3000-D3500, D5000-D5600 digital SLR cameras.
