Manufacturer description #1
All Monolens Petzval lenses are designed in accordance with the first optical formula of Professor Petzval and recalculated for the corresponding frame format. The lenses have a constant aperture ratio. Monolens Petzval make it possible to create photographs using modern cameras with a recognizable look of lenses of the late 19th - early 20th centuries. The lenses fully reveal their pictorial capabilities on the cameras for which they were designed.
Pictorial features of Monolens Petzval:
- separation of the subject from the background,
- characteristic "twisting" of the background at short focusing distances,
- slight natural vignetting.
Manufacturer description #2
The lens is designed in accordance with the first optical scheme of Professor Petzval and recalculated for the frame format of 24x36 mm. The focal length of 50 mm is convenient for shooting a wide range of subjects. The lens has a constant aperture ratio of 3.
The lens fully reveals its visual capabilities on full-frame cameras. However, it allows you to get spectacular pictures on cameras with smaller sensors. To shoot, the camera must have an electronic viewfinder (LiveView).
From the editor
During development, the lens was labeled 48mm F/2.8, but was advertised and sold as 50mm F/3.
Please note that this lens was also released for mirrorless camera mounts. We decided to record it separately in our database.
