Manufacturer description

For startling and precise closeup photos of insects, stamps or pages from a book, you will require a special lens that combines ease-of-operation, superior optics and versatility. With Minolta, you may choose between the 50mm Macro Rokkor-X or 100mm Macro Rokkor-X - both of which, by the way, are ideally suited for standard photography as well as for photomacrography because of their extremely wide focusing range. Both lenses are ingeniously designed. The 50mm Macro produces a critically sharp picture at any distance between 230mm and infinity without attachments and will provide magnifications up to one-half life-size unaided. To obtain magnifications up to life-size (1:1), you add its adapter, which enables you to focus down to 203mm. The 100mm Macro provides the same 24-degree angle of view as a conventional 100mm telephoto lens, but has a much greater tocusing range. It will produce a critically sharp photograph at any distance between 450mm and infinity without attachments. Magnifications up to life-size are easily and conveniently obtained by mounting the supplied, automatic, meter-coupled life-size adapter between lens and camera. Both lenses couple automatically to the through-the-lens metering system of the Minolta SLR cameras, providing full-aperture exposure control. All adjustments for exposure are completely automatic.
