Manufacturer description

***

300 mm focal length, which means an image magnification of six times compared to the normal focal length for 24 mm x 36 mm cameras and 3.75 times for 6 cm x 6 cm. Let's assume you had a good seat in the stands and were following the action on the field with your camera. What you see on the screen, what your standard lens captures, is at best a good overview shot, but not a gripping sports photo that clearly shows details. In this case, you can hardly change the shooting position, but you can exchange the normal focal length for the "three hundred". You have already made the group considerably larger, it fills the format. You will also often encounter similar shooting conditions when taking animal, long-distance and architectural photos. In black and white photography, you may have found the "absence" of a longer focal length less disturbing because you could, if necessary, overcome it by enlarging the crop, albeit with a significant loss of sharpness. Nowadays, however, color photography on reversal film dominates. You know that once the image section has been selected, it is practically impossible to change it. The possible variations therefore lie solely in your lens equipment. Thanks to the interchangeable adapter, you don't have to commit to camera-related issues with the ORESTEGOR. The lens can not only be used on various single-lens 35mm SLR cameras, but also on the 6cm x 6cm format. The adapter can be changed in just a few steps. The same lens for both cameras you might use means less baggage on the go, not to mention reducing the purchase cost of all the lens equipment. But let's not forget the excellent optical performance of this new five-lens telephoto lens. In terms of sharpness, brilliance and color rendering, it meets the highest standards. What is striking is the short design, a characteristic feature of a telephoto lens, i.e. shorter in physical length than its focal length. What is also notable is the relatively high speed of 1:4 for a telephoto type. The pre-set aperture enables quick and convenient stopping down. A tripod base ring is included to make it easier to switch from portrait to landscape and vice versa. The depth of field scale, the index point for infrared shots and the screw-out lens hood are self-evident. All in all, another MEYER lens that already reveals how modern it is through its external shape.

From the editor

Introduced at the 1967 Leipzig Autumn Fair.

Essentially, it is the same lens as the Orestegor 200/4, but with cemented 2nd and 3rd elements, a focal length of 300mm and a slower speed of 5.6.

Interchangeable adapters for the Praktisix (Pentacon Six) bayonet mount, M42 screw mount, Praktina bayonet mount and Exakta bayonet mount were available for this lens. These interchangeable mount adapters were also compatible with the Orestegor 500/5.6.

With the Praktisix (Pentacon Six) interchangeable mount adapter, the lens weighs 2180g.
