Manufacturer description
***
Compared to the normal lens, the new wide-angle lens Orestegon 2.8/29 covers a 1.7-fold object space in its width and height dimensions. It is also suitable for taking pictures of large areas of architecture, extensive landscapes and panorama-like views, as well as for indoor pictures where large image sections are to be photographed at the shortest possible shooting distance. As a result of the relatively large depth of field caused by the short focal length and the automatic aperture control in connection with the high speed of 2.8, the Orestegon is also very well suited for snapshots of scenes from everyday life. Its spectral transparency guarantees absolutely true color reproduction.
From the Exakta News magazine (No. 672)
Owners of the Exakta RTL-1000 have been waiting, with varying degrees of patience, for internally automatic lenses. At long last we have the first of these lenses and, as expected, it is a great lens: the 29mm F2.8 internally automatic Orestegon Wide Angle. Optically and mechanically, the Orestegon matches the 50mm F1.8 internally automatic Oreston. The mounts are identical. There is the same push-button feature. And, most important of al, the new Wide Angle shows the same incredibly high correction as the Oreston F1.8 50mm lens.
Primarily designed for use in the RTL-1000, the Orestegon can be used in all Exakta Models. Its front thread is a standard 49mm.
From the editor
The lens was produced in two versions:
- "auto" - a lens with plain M42 screw mount with the pin for automatic stop down;
- "electric" - as "auto", but also with electrical contacts for compatible Praktica models.
However, unlike the later Pentacon version, the name of the lens did not contain the words "auto" or "electric".
For the Exakta RTL 1000, the lens was produced in version with automatic diaphragm mechanism with internal release.
