Multi Coated Multi-layer anti-reflection coating is applied to the surfaces of lens elements. This anti-reflection coating increases light transmission, eliminates flare and ghosting, and maintains color consistence among all lens models.

An unusual lens that is both a portrait and a macro lens. In the latter case, it provides shooting with a maximum magnification of 1.5:1 at a focusing distance of 0.25m. Interestingly, the lens has two focusing rings: the first is used primarily for portrait photography and is equipped with a distance scale from 0.25m (1:1) to 1m and INFINITY, while the second ring is used for macro photography down to the closest focusing distance of 0.25m (1.5:1).

With a bright red line around the front of the lens barrel and a typical Canon barrel design, the lens mimics the older Canon L-series lenses quite well. However, since macro lenses usually produce outstanding sharpness, this lens is not far behind in terms of image quality either.
