With a 35mm equivalent focal length of 38-40mm (depending on sensor size), this moderate wide-angle lens is a mere 3-6mm short of being considered a standard lens. Like all ultra-fast lenses, it is large and heavy, but this is inevitable because such speed requires large-diameter optical elements. The manufacturer was embarrassed to indicate any special elements in the optical formula, but most likely they are there.
The lens covers a wide range of subjects from landscapes and architecture to portraits. The latter genre is facilitated by the speed of F/0.95, which makes possible a shallow depth of field and a very smooth, eye-pleasing background blur. Night photography enthusiasts will also appreciate the maximum speed of this lens, as it does not require raising the ISO too high. When stopping down, 12 aperture blades will keep the out-of-focus highlight's a more rounded shape.
The short closest focusing distance of 0.17m allows for close-ups of flowers and other small subjects.
The lens accepts 55mm screw-in filters, while the lens hood is built-in telescopic round.
The lens is also sold under the names "NEEWER MULTI COATED 0.95/25" and "VOKING 0.95/25 MULTI COATED".
