Manufacturer description #1

Your angle of view is a wide 180-degree (diag.) and the image produced is full-frame (56 x 41.5 mm), with the distance from the picture center to any given point always proportional to the angle from the optical axis to that point (equidistance projection). Ultra-low dispersion glass further reduces lens flare, and four filters are built in: LB-A (81C), SL-1B, Y48 (Y2) and O56 (O2).

Manufacturer description #2

The 24mm f/4 fisheye renders unusual perspective with a full rectangular image and expansive 180° angle of view. Linear distortion is apparent, and can be creatively used for unusual perspective of any scene or subject. Applications include interpretive landscape and architectural photography, advertising illustration, industrial and editorial assignments.

Typical characteristics of fisheye lenses

  • Extreme angle of view (at least 180° diagonally);
  • Circular types (the image circle of the lens is inscribed in the image frame) or diagonal types (cover the entire image frame);
  • Usually of equidistant projection type, with the distance from the picture center to any given point always proportional to the angle from the optical axis to that point;
  • Huge barrel distortion;
  • Short closest focusing distance (0.20 - 0.30m with 35mm full-frame prime lenses);
  • Very large depth of field, eliminating the need for autofocus or precise manual focusing;
  • Due to the extreme angle of view and convex front element, front filters cannot be used;
  • Often equipped with a filter turret with swivel-mounted filters;
  • Often come with a small, built-in petal-shaped lens hood.

I would like to know if there is a similar or upgraded product of Mamiya-Skor Fisheye ULD C24mm F/4.

Reply

There were no other fisheyes or upgraded versions of this ULD C 24/4 fisheye lens in the Mamiya M645 system. This lens was unique in the system.

P.S. By the way, thanks for your comment. I have modified the logic on this page, and now if the lens has no alternatives in the system and there is no improved version, a corresponding message is displayed.
