From the editor
Standard lens for Nippon cameras produced by Gojo Koki Seisakusho in very small quantities from 1942 to 1945. Both the optical design and the collapsible lens barrel were copied from the Leitz Summar 50/2. The lens was originally not rangefinder-coupled, but a coupling cam was added later. In the lens name, the abbreviation K.O.L. stands for Kajiro Optical Laboratory, the original name of the company when it was founded in July 1939. Some time after the company ceased operations in 1945, it was revived under the new name Sun Koki (a fairly well-known Japanese optics manufacturer). Production of the lens then continued under the name Sun Xebec.
