Compact and lightweight ultra-wide angle lens with a metal barrel, virtually zero distortion, multi-layer anti-reflective coatings, large built-in petal-shaped lens hood, and a very short closest focusing distance of 0.15m. With its elegant shape and recessed distance scale, the lens is reminiscent of some Pentax Limited lenses (see, for example, the HD Pentax-DA 15/4 ED AL Limited). It should also be noted that this is an ultra-wide angle lens with the simplest optical formula among other manual focus APS-C lenses with a similar focal length.
Judging by the fact that most of the focusing distance scale is occupied by marks from the closest distance to 1m, the lens is optimized for close-up shooting. This is also hinted at by the word "macro" in the lens name, but in reality it would be more correct to use the words "Close Focusing" since the maximum magnification is only 1:8.85, which is definitely NOT macro. In any case, the focus throw of this lens is VERY short, so focusing will only be accurate at short distances of up to 1m.
The lens is also sold under the names Jaray / Jintu / Mcoplus "3.5/14mm macro". The Kaxinda and Jaray versions were the first to appear, so this lens is listed in our database under the name Kaxinda.
