Manufacturer description

A moderate speed, all-purpose lens, especially suited for portraiture.

From the editor

The lens existed in the following types:

  • TYPE 1: Introduced with the ST701. Plain M42 mount without aperture indexing tab (i.e., without support for open-aperture metering). Knurled focusing ring, silver aperture ring. Depth-of-field scale with white lines and numerical marks.
  • TYPE 2: Introduced with the ST801. Modified M42 mount with aperture indexing tab for open-aperture metering. Rubberized focusing ring, black aperture ring. Depth-of-field scale with only colored lines.

The name of the TYPE 1 lens did not contain the "EBC" acronym. The TYPE 2 lens was always EBC-coated.

The specifications on this page are for the TYPE 2 lens.

The number of groups and elements, closest focusing distance, filter size, marks on the distance scale of TYPE 1 and TYPE 2 lenses were the same, so most likely they were optically identical (which is why we posted information about these versions on the same page).

Frequently asked questions

Can I use the Fuji Photo Film [EBC] Fujinon-T 100/2.8 lens on my Fujifilm X-series APS-C digital mirrorless camera?

Yes, use the M42 - Fujifilm X mount adapter and enable "SHOOT WITHOUT LENS" option in the camera menu. The 35mm equivalent focal length of this lens will be 152mm (16.2° angle of view) due to the crop factor of the APS-C-size image sensor of Fujifilm X-series digital mirrorless cameras. The automatic aperture control as well as automatic stop down will not be available. You will have to control the aperture and focus manually. For accurate focusing, try different manual focus assist options (zoomed-in view, digital split image, digital microprism or focus peak highlight) available with your camera, or use the lens' distance scale.
