A collapsible standard lens for the FED. It was produced before the Great Patriotic War by the Kharkov NKVD plant named after Dzerzhinsky.
Optically, the lens is of the Tessar type, but is housed in a barrel that is a copy of the Leitz Elmar 50/3.5. Like all lenses from the late 1930s and early 1940s, the FED 50/3.5, of course, lacks an anti-reflective coating, so overall image contrast is low, and resistance to flares is poor.
The markings on the aperture scale correspond to the German standard: 3,5 - 4,5 - 6,3 - 9 - 12,5 - 18. The dial-set aperture ring moves smoothly, without click stops. There are 10 aperture blades.
NOTE: The flange focal distance of this lens was not standardized, requiring individual adjustment of the lens to the camera.
