Manufacturer description
The Z mount lens is a manual focus interchangeable lens that can be directly connected to the Nikon Z mount without using a mount adapter. Lenses with a D notation in front of the focal length cover the image circle of APS-C size (Nikon DX-format). The optical design is optimized for the image sensor of mirrorless cameras with Nikon Z mount.
This lens is equipped with electronic contacts and realizes communications between the lens and the body. In addition to Exif information and in-body image stabilization (3 axes), by combining a body compatible with communications and the latest firmware *1, three types of focusing support functions ( [1] focusing by color changing of the focus point frame [2] peaking function focusing and [3] focusing with the enlargement button) are supported.
The lens controls are all metal and feature heavily carved finger grips in a precision-cut knurled pattern. The barrel design combines a nostalgic appearance reminiscent of “the good old days” with functionality that improves the feeling of manual operation.

The NOKTON D35mm F1.2 is a large-diameter standard lens that covers an APS-C size image circle mirrorless cameras with the Nikon Z mount. The lens configuration uses a traditional double gauss type. A large aperture of F1.2 is achieved in the style of "8-element" formula in which all elements arranged almost symmetrically around the aperture position are composed of spherical surfaces. This yields a beautiful bokeh effect in the images it makes when aperture is all the way open.
Its optical design is optimized APS-C size (Nikon DX-format) mirrorless cameras for which the Nikon Z mount has been adopted. This lens has an APS-C size (Nikon DX-format) image circle, and can be used by setting the camera's imaging range to DX-format when using it on a full-frame camera (Nikon FX-format body) by manually.
This lens is equipped with electronic contacts and realizes communications between the lens and the body. In addition to Exif information and in-body image stabilization (3 axes), by combining with a body compatible with communications and the latest firmware*1, three types of focusing support functions ( [1] focusing by color changing of the focus point frame [2] peaking function focusing and [3] focusing with the enlargement button) are supported.
By adopting an full-metal helicoid unit processed and adjusted with high precision and high-quality grease that produces an appropriate torque, focusing with a smooth operation feeling is realized. It enables fine focus adjustment.
A 12-blade aperture is used to make the holes formed by the blades closer to a circle. The out-of-focus part has a natural depiction, and the point light source is not a polygon but a round and soft bokeh.
In addition to being able to capture a wide variety of subjects as a standard lens with angle of view of 44°, the close-up shooting effect provides a large amount of bokeh, expanding the possibilities of shooting style that takes advantage of the bokeh at full aperture.
Despite its large diameter, it has a filter diameter of φ46 mm, a total length of 41.0 mm, and a weight of 230 g, making it compact and easy to handle. The barrel design combines a nostalgic appearance reminiscent of “the good old days” with functionality that improves the feeling of manual operation.
This product is developed and manufactured under a license agreement with Nikon Corporation.
From the editor
Cosina's first lens designed for Nikon Z-series APS-C mirrorless cameras. Optically it is identical to the Nokton 35mm F/1.2 X designed for Fujifilm X-series mirrorless cameras and introduced in July 2021.
On its website, Cosina uses the D marking for this lens to indicate that the lens is designed for Nikon APS-C cameras, but we decided not to include that marking in the lens name, because it is not present on the front ring.
