From the editor

A totally new super telephoto lens for Praktica B series 35mm SLR cameras, not based on earlier optical designs for M42 screw mount cameras. According to the latest research, the lens consisted of 7 elements in 5 groups. It was similar to the Carl Zeiss Jena Prakticar 200/2.8 MC, but had 1 more element in the optical formula. Only 1.100 units were produced from January 1980 to October 1983.

The Praktica B-System booklet (1982) says the lens consists of 5 elements in 3 groups, but this was most likely true for the prototype version.

Another 4.000 units were produced from August 1985 to October 1990, but this was actually the second version of the Prakticar 300/4 MC with a different optical formula with 6 elements in 5 groups. Unfortunately, we do not have the manufacturer's literature with all the data necessary to add this version to the database.
