Manufacturer description #4

Make every shot the star of the show, with this ultra wide-angle lens. The ZEISS Distagon T* 2,8/15 ZM is the pinnacle of modern, rectilinear rangefinder lens design, offering very dynamic perspective effects for critical architecture and interior photography.

The ZEISS Distagon T* 2,8/15 ZM is a fast lens for its focal length, allowing for hand-held photography under difficult lighting conditions. The lens is made in Germany and incorporates a very complex optical design using exotic optical materials such as barium dense flint with a high refractive index and fluor crown with anomalous partial dispersion. It uses aspheric lens elements and an internal focus mechanism for distortion-free images and consistent performance over the whole frame and across the entire focusing range. The standard center filter compensates for the natural vignetting effect and provides even tonal reproduction across the image field. When used with the 15 mm viewfinder, the Distagon T* 2,8/15 ZM is an ideal match to the Zeiss Ikon SW camera.

Manufacturer description #5

The ultra-wide angle lens designed for high-speed performance and full integration with TTL exposure metering. In order to achieve the unique performanc elevel, the lens’s complex design incorporates floating elements, a total of 11 elements (with one aspherical surface) comprising exotic optical glasses such as high-refractive-index barium dense flint and flour crown with anomalous partial dispersion. Equipped with this lens, you can expect a high resolving power at high speeds opening up possibilities for handheld indoor shots previously impossible. The illumuination of the frame has the same characteristic at all apertures and can thus be perfectly balanced with the supplied center filter. The high precision mechanics for focusing and the wide spread of the focus scale enable accurate focusing – even without rangefinder coupling. Quite simply, this lens is made for stunning photographic compositions, eye-catching advertising, documentation in cramped spaces and extremely dynamic architectural photos.

ZEISS ZM series

The Carl Zeiss range of T* ZM-mount lenses offers the highest possible standards in terms of performance, reliability and, of course, image quality. You can count on highly advanced flare control and virtually zero geometric distortion, for example.

Carl Zeiss T* ZM-mount lenses are specifically designed to minimize focus shift with aperture changes – an important innovation with big benefits for rangefinder photography. As a result, you can expect improved accuracy of the rangefinder-defined focus.

The high-quality craftsmanship of the all-metal mounts, the easy-to-grip metal focus and aperture ring and the robust front bayonet and filter threads ensure an amazing photographic experience.

  • Compact and lightweight design for the most frequently used focal lengths;
  • Almost circular 10-blade aperture helps to create a particularly harmonious bokeh;
  • 1/3 f-stop intervals with easy-to-feel, lock-in positions and exact photometric graduation;
  • The easy-grip focusing ring with ergonomic finger rest allows fast and precise focusing.

From the editor

The lens was announced in September at Photokina 2004 but the first batch was delivered only by June 2007.
