Manufacturer description #1
An angle of view which borders on that of a standard lens and nearly natural perspective make the 35mm lens a popular general-purpose lens in the system of many photographers. Its speed in particular makes this lens a handy alternative to the 50mm standard. The FD 35mm f/2 has undergone a drastic reduction in size and weight and Canon has given it a new, unusual 10-element, 8-group construction for improved performance. Optical performance is excellent even with the lens wide open, and the Canon Floating System prevents degradation of image quality at close focusing distances.
Manufacturer description #2
With a new 10-element, 8-group construction, the FD 35mm f/2 is approximately 25 percent shorter and 29 percent lighter than the former FD design.
A rational lens composition insures that spherical aberration, especially common at full aperture, does not flare up even at f/2. Astigmatism and coma are also ideally corrected. And Canon's Floating System provides sharp images from its closest focusing distance of 0.3 meter to infinity.
Its speed, portability and natural perspective make it a popular lens with virtually unlimited applications.
Manufacturer description #3
Many photographers rely on the 35mm focal length as their standard lens. This new version of the Canon FD 35mm f2.0 lens is outstanding in many respects. Not only is it sharper than its predecessor, but it offers greatly reduced size and weight, and excellent handling, thanks to the improved Canon "one-hand" mounting system.
Excellent image quality is assured at all distances and apertures thanks to the Canon Floating System and a completely revised optical design as compared to its predecessor.
