Manufacturer description #1

This is a lightweight and compact telephoto lens that keeps the total length to a minimum while having a large aperture with a brightness of f/2.

In general, the power distribution of a lens is held to be a key point to maintaining high performance while making the optical system compact. This lens utilizes a new optical system that appropriately distributes power to disperse it throughout the whole, achieving a large aperture through sufficient correction of spherical aberration in addition to being lightweight and compact.

Manufacturer description #2

With the development of this f/2 telephoto lens, the f/2 series lenses now number five, including the 24mm, 28mm, 35mm and 100mm lenses. The real achievement was reducing size and weight while retaining a fast maximum aperture. Superior results can be fully expected from this fast f/2 lens with substantial correction of field curvature.

Spherical aberration and chromatic aberration are eliminated by proper combination of glasses having a higher index of refraction. Thus, high resolving power and high contrast are attained to produce sharp and clear images from full aperture opening.

Manufacturer description #3

The 135mm focal length has been the ideal compromise between a portrait and long telephoto lens for many photographers. This new Canon lens adds the high speed of a normal lens for even greater versatility.

Despite its ultra-high speed, this new lens is extremely sharp and free of aberrations. It is an entirely new design, featuring six elements in five groups, and measures only 3 1/2 inches in length, overall.

This new design and the New FD bayonet-type mounting system combine to provide a rare combination of high speed, compact dimensions and fast handling.
