Manufacturer description

This lens derives the same benefits from rear-group internal focusing, adjustable focusing torque and focus lock as the FD 800mm f/5.6 S.S.C. lens. It also has a special feature that puts it in a whole different class - that is, ultra low dispersion (UD) glass. As in other L-class lenses, the UD glass suppresses chromatic aberration and the secondary spectrum for crisp image sharpness and vivid colors. Attention has also been focused on reducing curvature of field for uniform sharpness from the center to the edges of the image. It's just the lens for the critical photographer who does lots of serious work in the 800mm range.
