Manufacturer description
CONTAX MOUNT CANON 28mm f:3.5 Ultra-Wide Angle Lens
Except for the mount, this lens is identical to the Canon 28mm f:3.5 ultra-wide-angle lens with screw-in mount.
The Contax-type mount couples to the rangefinder of the Contax or cameras of similar design.
From the editor
The only lens made by Canon for 35mm film rangefinder cameras with CONTAX mount.
The lens appeared in the Price List "The Canon system of photography" (effective July 1st, 1954), however, the Canon booklet published in September 1955 no longer mentions the lens.
Canon's claim that the CONTAX-mount version is identical to the lens with screw-in mount is not entirely accurate, because the closest focusing distance of the CONTAX-mount version is 0.9m, while the screw-in mount version focuses from 3.5 ft. (which is roughtly 1m).
