From the editor
A camera inspired by the Nikon S2 and completely different from previous models (35C, 35F, IIIS, IV-S):
- The viewfinder and rangefinder are combined in a single eyepiece. Both the viewfinder magnification (1x) and the rangefinder base (60mm) were increased. The viewfinder now has bright frame with automatic parallax correction.
- The top shutter speed was increased to 1/1000th of a second.
- The camera has an adjustable self-timer, controlled by a lever at the front.
- Flash synchronization is provided via a single PC socket.
- The film is advanced by a lever at the top right, in a single movement or by small increments. The lever contains a black exposure counter at the top.
- The rewind knob contains a folding crank, and is surrounded by a film reminder with ASA indications.
- The camera back is detachable together with the bottom plate for film loading.
- The camera body was accompanied by a new large-aperture standard lens, the Tanar 50/1.5 H.C.
Despite numerous improvements, the camera was never a commercial success and failed to replace the Tanack IV-S.
