Manufacturer description

Creativity begins with the choice of format

Professional photographers all agree: when you want precise imaging, 6 x 6 is the only format. You don't have any disturbing changes between portrait and landscape. You always have a bright, upright image in the finder. And this is clearly visible from above through the folding hood finder. However, the photographer doesn't have to decide everything when shooting. For 6 x 6 has a "creative reserve" - it allows you to add a good number of interesting picture details later on. This is the particular strength of the large format. And you'll also see the advantages of this format when you make extreme enlargements, or enlargements of pictures shot on the fastest available film. And, naturally, when you want your image to fill the projection screen.

Rollei give 6 x 6 a new dimension

But nowadays precise imaging is simply not enough. A modern medium-format camera has to be universal. The professional photographer wants to be able to use the same camera in the studio and outdoors. In highly varied lighting conditions. And with flash. To put it another way: the camera has to meet the same high standards for dynamic applications (fashion, people and reportage photographyl as for static shots (architectural, industrial, landscape and still-life photography).

With the Rolleiflex 6000 system, Rollei have met these requirements in a unique way. Know-how built up over the years and the use of the very latest technology have produced a camera which is simply unrivalled. It combines the advantages of medium format with features and handling that knock the spots off a good many 35 mm models! It's no wonder that the Rolleiflex 6008 professional is recognized as the most advanced medium-format camera on the market.

And this isn't to say that the Rolleiflex 6003 SRC 1000 is an inferior camera! It can be fitted out with practically all the Rolleiflex 6008 standard features at a later date.

Rolleiflex 6003 SRC 1000: universal and convenient - the camera with a sound future.

This camera's features have been designed to meet a multiplicity of practical requirements. They make even the most difficult photo assignments easier. And open up opportunities for working with additional applications including digital photography and electronic image processing (SRC = scan remote control).

The finder system has been designed as an easy-to-view imaging and control centre. Interchangeable focusing screens and viewing aids (prism finder, magnifying hood) can be easily adapted to the particular photographic assignment. So no application in conventional photograph is out of bounds for this camera. And all the important functions are shown in the finder by LED's.

The unique TTL exposure metering and control system is integral with the camera. It is fully operative with all lens attachments and viewing aids. The three AE functions and the metered manual mode, combined with centre-weighted multi-zone and spot metering, provide supreme ease of handling and cater for every photographic desire. The exposure memory function, exposure compensation and automatic bracketing guarantee a superlative optical performance, even in extreme lighting conditions.

TTL flash metering makes flash photography with the SCA-300 flash units as reliable and simple as shooting with daylight alone. In addition, flash synchronization at all shutter speeds up to 1/1000 sec (!) opens up a wide range of possibilities for effective flash and well-dosed fill-in lighting.

Motorized film transport ensures that the camera is ready for shooting as quickly as possible after each frame and allows continuous shooting at the rate of 2 fps - a unique feature among medium-format cameras. It also provides automatic advance to Frame 1 after a film change and automatic rewind after the last exposure. This facility can be easily disengaged if multiple exposure is used.

Even the power supply has been designed to meet the most rigorous professional criteria. The rechargeable, interchangeable special NiCad battery delivers a large shooting capacity 1500 frames at normal room temperaturel, enhanced security and the simplest possible handling. Using the standard charger, it takes half an hour to completely recharge the battery. The car battery lead and the external battery connection for keeping the battery close to the body in very low temperatures complete this professional power system.

The Rolleiflex 6003 SRC 1000 has a detachable film back providing twelve 6x6/120 pictures. The film speed can be set on the camera in one-third steps from ISO 45 to 2500. With automatic film advance and rewind and the interchangeable film inserts, it takes just a few seconds to change the film. For special shots, the film back can be replaced with the Polaroid film pack magazine and all the interchangeable film magazines of the Rolleiflex 6008 including the Rollei Digital Scanpack for digital image processing. A further proof of total system compatibility.

The superiority of this camera is particularly evident in the close-up range. Even difficult shots can be taken considerable success, with thanks to the highly versatile TTL exposure metering system, built into the camera body. In the close-up range, too, the exposure system is automatic. Macro lenses, automatic extension tubes, a bellows unit, a retro adaptor and a magnifying lens adaptor open up the whole world of close-up and macro work.

The Rolleiflex 6003's range of lenses makes this camera an undisputed league champion. Using the latest technology and new materials, Rollei have collaborated with the lens specialists Carl Zeiss and Schneider-Kreuznach to produce leaf-shutter lenses which, in terms of shutter speed (up to 1/1000 sec.) have given medium-format photography a new dimension: 23 lenses from 30 to 1000 mm, ranging from fish-eye and wide-angle to super telephoto, shift and zoom lenses. As all these lenses incorporate Rollei's own state-of-the-art direct-drive technology, the apertures and shutter blades are powered by linear motors and controlled with supreme precision by the on-board processor. There is nothing to match this system on the photographic market.

In terms of features, the Rolleiflex 6003 SRC 1000 is undoubtedly the most powerful medium-format camera on the market apart from the Rolleiflex 6008. And it can be brought almost right up to the 6008's specification at a later date. A practical range of accessories - also unparalleled in its scope and versatility - opens up further photographic applications. It gives the photographer every opportunity to realize his full creative potential.

Rolleiflex 6003 SRC 1000: Professional perfection in medium format.
