Manufacturer description #1

pick the petri FT - ingeniously simple SLR with control cluster for one finger action

It puts instant shooting ease at your fingertip. No need to lock and unlock buttons or turn switches on and off. It's so handy: you hardly move your finger and are in complete control. The spring action lever does it. Focus at fully open aperture. Press lever to activate exposure meter, simultaneously checking depth of field. (Change either aperture or shutter speed to match pointers in viewfinder.) Then, just slide your finger over to the convenient, 45° angled shutter release and click. You work quickly, easily, because all controls are clustered for split-second efficiency.

Intelligent design makes the difference too -

.. in focus ease: You'll never miss a beat. Your eye never leaves the viewfinder, as you follow the action, compose, focus, set aperture and shoot. The viewfinder of the Petri FT is unbelievably bright, thanks to the micromatic focusing prism grid, with clear reference zone, ground glass collar and full focusing screen.

... in exposure automation: Behind-the-lens exposure control with a twin set of super sensitive CdS cells measures integrated light of actual in-focus image at shooting aperture, the true criterion of exposure accuracy.

... in extra conveniences: The exposure system of the Petri FT features a current miser circuit, activated by an automatic switch. Current is fed only when meter lever is depressed. Cannot be left on accidentally. Insures peak battery power.

... and in performance: Interchangeable lenses from 28mm wide angle to 1000mm telephoto plus accessories let you master any photographic situation. But there's more: focal plane shutter with speeds from 1-1/1000th sec. plus B and full flash synch.; programming for film speeds ASA 25-1,600; single stroke film advance lever; instant mirror return; selftimer; automatic reset frame counter; double exposure prevention; quick film loading and other refinements.

The remarkable handling ease... the many useful design feaures... the superb precision optics... and the critical production care make the quality difference - make every Petri FT a top performance camera of exceptional versatility.

With automatic 7-element 55mm Petri F/1.4 lens, under $235. (with automatic 6-element 55mm Petri F/1.8 lens, $185.) plus case.

Manufacturer description #2

A new camera is always an exciting experience. Your new Petri FT should be even more so because it is a brilliantly designed and precision built 35mm single lens reflex and one of the easiest-handling, swiftest-operating cameras of its type. It has all the convenient, fast-operating features inherent in the design of the 35mm SLR with through-the-lens CdS meter exposure control, plus refinements and innovations that speed shooting immeasurably.

The exclusive Petri "Control Cluster" on the right side of the camera permits fingertip operation of the exposure meter and shutter release with split-second convenience. The remarkably bright viewfinder with its micromatic prism grid containing more than 800 Micro Prisms in the center zone permits quick and easy focusing.

Rapid film loading, single-stroke-lever film advance, instant return mirror, a focal plane shutter with speeds from 1 to 1/1000 second and bulb and rapid lens interchangeability are some of the other features that make the Petri FT fast and easy to operate.
