A Japanese Leica copy produced by Nicca Camera Company in 1958. Rough estimates suggest that no more than 1,000 bodies were released in total. Nicca's last budget model, which was a clone of the Leica IIIf. The camera has a light alloy die-cast body with a matte chrome finish and rounded corners. There is a single PC sync socket on the back of the top plate. The X sync speed was increased from 3-F's 1/25 to 1/60th of a second, however, unlike other Nicca die-cast models, the sync type (F or X) does not switch automatically. The earlier Nicca cameras came equipped with Nikkor lenses, but the Nicca 33 was sold with the Nicca 50/2.8 standard lens.
In May 1958, Nicca Camera Company was acquired by Yashica, and production of the camera continued in 1959 under the new name Yashica YE.
