Manufacturer description #1

The Hasselblad 2003FCW is a single-lens reflex camera featuring lens, magazine, viewfinder and focusing screen interchangeability.

It has the new high brilliancy, high resolution Acute-Matte focusing screen and is highly improved against internal reflections through the use of the new "Palpas" anti-reflection coating. The grip comfort is also improved by the introduction of the rubber grip-pad on the left hand side of the camera body.

The 2003FCW can be operated manually or fitted with the powerful Hasselblad motor winder, which cycles the camera at 1.3 frames per second.

The 2003FCW also provides a choice of shutter systems - between-the-lens leaf shutters or focal plane shutter - with speeds from 1s to 1/2000s, and allows the use of all Hasselblad lenses manufactured since 1957 as well as the viewfinders, focusing screens, magazines and other accessories in the extensive Hasselblad system. A system that is capable of taking your photography to inner or outer space, and almost anywhere in between.

When used with the between-the-lens (or central) leaf shutters the 2003FCW synchronizes electronic flashes to 1/500s and when used with the camera body's own electronically timed titanium focal plane shutter it synchronizes at 1/90s or slower. At faster speeds the synchronization is disabled to prevent the flash from firing. A mechanical mode allows the C and CF lenses to be used at all shutter speeds also when the camera's battery is exhausted.

Double exposures can be initiated at the touch of a button which also is used for selecting any of the camera's three mirror programs.

With its outstanding versatility and sophistication the 2003FCW rightfully deserves its place as the flagship of the Hasselblad camera line.

Manufacturer description #2

The Hasselblad 2003FCW is a medium format camera with unlimited possibilities. You can work with the camera's own focal plane shutter to freeze actions at 1/2000 s. Or you can switch over to the leaf shutter in a CF lens and shoot with flash at 1/500 s, keeping perfect balance between existing light and flash.

Two shutter systems in one camera!

You'll find the 2003FCW unique in many other ways. Specially designed large aperture "F" lenses by Zeiss can be used and you have the option of a motorized winder for automatic film advance and shutter cocking.

Hasselblad precision down to the minutest detail, combined with Zeiss quality lenses and the large 2 1/4 x 2 1/4" format (that's 3 1/2 times larger than a 35mm frame) guarantee you spectacular results in the form of breathtakingly sharp pictures.

The electronically timed, focal plane shutter of titanium sets the 2003FCW apart from other Hasselblad camera bodies. But it still shares complete component interchangeability within the Hasselblad system as a whole. The 2003FCW takes all the film magazines, wiewfinders, focusing screens available in the system and most of the other accessories as well. Among the lenses available are the CF series. The CF lenses give you two shutter systems in one camera - the camera body's own built-in shutter for electronically timed speeds up to 1/2000 and the leaf shutter built in to the lens with full flash sync at speeds up to 1/500. Because the lens shutter is mechanical you don't even need a battery in the camera to operate it.

The F lenses are one full stop faster, greatly enhancing your picture possibilities in handheld photography or when working with high shutter speeds.

The new Acute-Matte focusing screen offers extraordinary brightness and high corner-to-corner resolution, for the most accurate focusing and precise control over composition in low light levels.

For action situations the motorized winder option offers automatic film advance and shutter cocking for single exposures or sequences at 1.3 frames per second.

The 2003FCW combines the advantages of medium format photography and sophisticated engineering technology in a compact, uncomplicated camera for reliable, professional results in the studio and on location.
