The R-D1x was released for the Japanese market only and maintained most of the features of the previous camera including a 6 MP APS-C sensor, but added a removable handgrip, larger 2.5" LCD screen and support for SDHC cards up to 32 GB.
A kit consisting of the R-D1x and a removable handgrip was sold as the R-D1xG.
