Manufacturer description

The "Друг" camera is intended for a wide variety of shooting and can satisfy the highest demands of qualified amateur photographers, photo reporters and scientists.

The small-format camera "Друг" with a frame format of 24x36 mm is designed for the use of perforated 35mm film. The camera is equipped with a metal cassette that holds 1.65m of film (36 frames). When the cover of the device is closed, the cassette opens and the effort to transport the film is significantly reduced. A standard cassette can also be used. The camera is equipped with a fast "Юпитер-8" lens with a focal length of 50mm and a relative aperture of 1:2. All lenses produced for Zorki type devices can be used on "Друг" as interchangeable lenses.

Shutter - curtain type with speeds of 1/1000, 1/500, 1/250, 1/125, 1/60, 1/30, 1/15, 1/8, 1/4, 1/2 seconds and "B". The shutter cocking lever is located at the bottom plate. The shutter cocking is interlocked with film rewinding and frame counter operation. The lever allows you to cock the shutter without interrupting your observation of the objects being shot. The shooting speed can be increased to 3 frames per second at shutter speeds of 1/250-1/1000.

The camera has a built-in self-timer with delay of 9-20 seconds.

The hinged cover makes loading the device convenient.

The film sensitivity scale eliminates the need to always remember what kind of film the device is loaded with and what its sensitivity is.

The camera has a viewfinder, in the field of view of which sharply defined frames are visible, limiting the size of the frame for lenses with focal lengths of 50 and 85mm. The viewfinder is combined into one viewing window with a rangefinder. Using the viewfinder-rangefinder, focus is achieved within the range from 1m to infinity.

From the editor

In terms of specifications, the Drug is similar to the Zorki-4, but with bright-line frames in the viewfinder for 50 and 85mm lenses, hinged back, shutter release button on the right of the front plate, and a shutter cocking lever at the bottom plate.

"Друг" in Russian means "friend", by the way.

The camera was produced by the Krasnogorsk Mechanical Plant (USSR) from 1960 to 1962. The ergonomics of the "Drug" were rather unusual, and the price was relatively high, so in total, according to KMZ, only 23,702 units were produced.

The weight and dimensions are indicated for the camera body with the "Юпитер-8" lens.
