Manufacturer description #1
This was a stripped-down Canon FTb for the mass market overseas. The fastest shutter speed was only 1/500 sec. The metering pattern was centerweighted averaging instead of 12% partial at the center. The stop-down lever had no locking feature. A PC terminal and hot shoe were provided for flash.

8 Main Features of the Canon TX:
1. Single lens reflex with built-in, through-the-lens metering system. You see exactly the picture to be taken, as does the light metering system, for perfect composition and exposure each and every time.
2. Built-in exposure meter that is completely coupled to shutter speeds, film speeds and f/stops. Light metering sensitivity has center emphasis, and correct exposure is ascertained by simply matching the needles.
3. Full-aperture metering with FD lenses and stopped-down metering with FL lenses. The lens' maximum aperture is automatically transmitted to the exposure meter when an FD lens is mounted.
4. Viewfinder with full exposure metering information containing meter index, meter and aperture needles, plus a red signal which indicates the limit of the coupling range.
5. A flash hot shoe is provided with a direct contact for an electronic flash unit. It is a convenient mount for a flash unit, and eliminates the necessity of cord connections and other extra attachments.
6. Reduced camera body weight. It is designed to be comfortably held, portable and easy to operate.
7. FD and FL lenses give high performance and sharp resolution. Wide range of focal lengths from 15mm full-frame fish-eye to 300mm telephoto. Other lenses from 7.5mm circular fish-eye to 1200mm super-telephoto are available.
8. Wide range of accessories for increased versatility. These include the Extension Tube M set for close-up photography, the Bellows FL and the Bellows M for macrophotography and such viewfinder attachments as the Angle Finder A-2, B and the Magnifier S.
