Manufacturer description

The PCS ARSAT 4.5/55 (PCS - perspective correction by shift) is designed for professional shooting on medium-format SLR cameras: КИЕВ-6С, КИЕВ-60, КИЕВ 88, ARAX, PENTACON SIX, САЛЮТ.

This photographic lens is a wide-angle, high-speed, complex nine-element optical system that provides high-quality photographs.

The lens has a mechanism for shifting the optical block parallel to the film plane, which gives the photographer a unique opportunity to correct the perspective, for example, when shooting architecture. Using the capabilities of the lens allows professional photographers to obtain an interesting and unique result that is impossible with other lenses.

The lens has a special multilayer coating, which improves the image quality and increases its contrast by increasing the integral transmission and reducing the scattering of transmitted light.

The lens operates in a temperature range from -15 to +45° C.

From the ФОТОГРАФИЯ magazine (ex СОВЕТСКОЕ ФОТО) (May-June 1995)

In 1993, Kiev residents developed and manufactured prototypes of the "ПКС Арсат" 4.5/55 lens with an optical axis shift for medium-format SLR cameras such as "Киев-60" and "Киев-88". When turning a special ring, the frame of the lens provides a transverse shift of the optical block from 0 to 12 mm. A special mechanism with fixation of the entire lens with additional movement of the rear lens block provides a 360° rotation of the lens. The peculiarity of the lens is that in addition to the traditional aperture control with the ring, it can be closed to a preset value by pressing the cable located in a special socket on the aperture repeater ring.

Resolving power, mm-1:

when focusing at infinity: center of the field: 50, edges of the field: 30, center of the field when shifted (y-1=46mm): 25;

when focusing at 0.5m: center of the field: 40, edges of the field: 15.

y1 is the distance from the center of the frame to the point of interest in the image.

Color formula: -9.8-0-0 (-0.5) with an acceptable deviation of +/- 3 at the extreme values. Light transmission is not less than 0.88. Light scattering coefficient is not more than 0.025. Illumination at the edge of the image field relative to the center at F/4.5: not less than 35%, when shifting the optical axis: 18%.
